Course Description: Some of your patients use cannabis, let's understand why and how this affects them. The cannabis plant offers enormous therapeutic potential in dentistry as well as some risk. This course covers the good and the bad and how it relates to the dental patient. Therapeutic potential includes analgesic effects, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, anti-fungal and antimicrobial qualities. This is an evidence-based review of the intra-oral and extra-oral uses of cannabis, including mucositis, trigeminal neuralgia, migraine and more! Course Objectives: After completion of this two-hour course, the participants will:
• Develop an understanding of the oral applications of CBD, THC, CBG, CBN and the
essential oils of cannabis, called terpenes. + Analyze the potential to provide pain and anxiety relief using hemp based and cannabis
based medicine.
• Improve the ability to communicate with patients about cannabis, hemp, strains and
methods of administration.
