The Ergonomics portion of this seminar will require active participation appropriate for all activity levels.

Stretching and strengthening will be taught outside. Please bring water and dress appropriately.

Fluoride & Hydroxyapatite: The Good, The Bad and The Unknown

  

There is a lot of confusion around fluoride and why some people love it and some are so opposed to it. Let' explore both sides of this important topic. This presentation will go through the good, the bad and the unknown of topical fluoride, fluoride varnish, silver diamine fluoride, water fluoridation and hydroxyapatite. 


Course Objectives:  


Understand the differences of Sodium Fluoride, Stannous Fluoride , Fluoride Varnish and Silver Diamine Fluoride

Review the benefits and the risks of water fluoridation

Understand the public concerns about fluoride

Understand hydroxyapatite's potential benefits and the potential side effects. 

The Science and Practice of Ergonomics and Muscle Balancing

 

  I can't say enough about the importance of workplace ergonomics.  This course will review patient and practitioner positioning, instruments, seating and all the things in you can do in the office to reduce your risk of getting a musculoskeletal injury.  We review common injuries in the dental field, how to prevent injury, signs and symptoms of an injury and what to do if you feel pain. This course will include a professionally guided, outdoor strengthening and stretching portion to encourage muscle balance, flexibility and strength and reduce risk of injury.


Course Objectives:

 Review  proper positioning of you and your patient to avoid provider fatigue and injury

Know your risk of getting a Musculoskeletal Disorder and how to protect yourself

Learn stretches and exercises you can do at home or in the office to help maintain muscle strength and balance.

Beyond Gingivitis: Recognizing and Treating Periodontal Disease

 

Early recognition and treatment of periodontal disease are critical for preventing irreversible damage to the supporting structures of the teeth. In its early stages, periodontal disease is often painless and subtle, making it easy to overlook.
 

 Course Objectives:

Ability to classify the extent and severity of periodontal disease at the initial patient examination.

Evaluate the complexity of disease management and the need for treatment.

Assess the rate of disease progression and anticipate future risk based on various patient factors.

 Identify systemic health conditions and their potential influence on periodontal disease progression.
