Course Description: 

 The Intraoral Extraoral exam is a comprehensive assessment performed by dental professionals to evaluate the health of the oral cavity and its surrounding structures. This examination consists of two main components:  The extraoral exam and assessment of structures outside the mouth, and the intraoral exam and assessment of structures inside the mouth.  The Intraoral Extraoral exam is crucial for early detection of oral health issues, including cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, and other abnormalities. By conducting this thorough evaluation, dental professionals can diagnose and treat problems at an early stage, improving overall oral health and preventing more serious conditions from developing. This exam is typically performed during routine dental check-ups and is an essential component of comprehensive dental care. 

Course Objectives:

Review head and neck anatomy including lymph nodes, TMJ and muscles of mastication

Learn to identify HPV and HSV  and other oral manifestations

Recognize oral manifestations of smoking and vaping

Know when it's appropriate to refer to a specialist for further testing
