As dental professionals, we are challenged with pain daily. Pain affects our patients' quality of life and functioning; however, we are not equipped with the tools necessary to educate, recommend or dispense medicinal cannabis. This course gives the dental professional an overview on the use of cannabis to treat pain and inflammation.
By the end of this course, participants will:
Understand how cannabinoids control and affect pain sensation, pain tolerance and pain signaling.
Gain an understanding of the endocannabinoid system
Understand the various routes of administration of cannabis, including inhalation, ingestion and topical applications
Learn strategies for patient education related to cannabis access, consumption and potential risks.
About Nicole: Nicole holds a MA in Health Education from Columbia University and a BS in Dental Hygiene from NYU. Nicole spent over 14 years in formal education, serving in various positions from high school dental assisting instructor to the Dean of Dental Hygiene.
